anvilfire! Millennium's End Report Francis Whitaker dies Hammer in Hand Australian Internet Censorship starts Jan. 1st, 2000 Dona Meilach announces another new book project! The Eternal Flame burns for Francis Whitaker - The page is blackened in protest of censorship.
FRANCIS WHITAKER: Died Saturday October 23, 1999 at 10:00pm. He had his hammer with him until the last Francis Whitaker at CanIronII in one of his last public appearances. After giving a public talk where he had to be helped in and out of a wheelchair, he spent several hours talking with individuals. This sums up Francis Whitaker's dedication to blacksmithing. The News spread rapidly through the blacksmithing comunity. Bob Keyes announced that at the time of the funeral service he would be ringing his anvil. Jim Wilson suggested it be rung 94 times for each year of his life. Soon an international ringing of anvils was organized.
